Best way to get in on it is the pre-order (also appears to be the only way). Figure I'll put $5 down at GameStop, play the beta and then decide from there to cancel or buy.

I'm going to grab my son a "very" low-cost gaming rig. It doesn't have to be fancy at all and I need to keep the cost as low as possible. Hoping to top out at around $500.

Yes, that is not a lot of money and I've already put the smack down on his ambitions of the uber-rig-from-hell.

We've been wandering around on Newegg and have found a few that seem reasonable and in line with our expectations.

What I need to know is what graphics cards to definitely avoid, gotchas, pitfalls, etc.

Any tips are greatly appreciated.

CoD Modern Warfare 2

Sith and I have been playing CoD online the last few nights and having a hell of a lot of fun I might add.

I know, I'm the same guy who pasted hate on the front page about it. I still miss dedicated servers, but the game does kick ass and Multiplayer is very playable and uber addicting.

Anyone picking up L4D2 this November? Still unsure if I'll be skipping MW2 or not, I'm curious about the whole IW.net thing. But $60 to be a beta tester is pretty damn steep.

Fucking Infinity Ward. Why must they go and mess up a good thing, not answer a damn question and keep everyone in the dark? Nice PR there guys. A demo would do wonders here, unless IW.net is a joke and it sucks... in which case paying $60 and not being able to return it or resell it because it's tied to Steam now is just mean.

No dedicated servers in the PC version and no explanation from IW or Activision has caused quite a stir. Maybe a little preview of what PC gamers can expect to see will help calm the storm? Doubt it... no dedicated servers means the following:

No clan servers
No community servers
No mod tools, custom maps, or mods

With 7Stacks you can create your very own shortcut to pin to the taskbar that will house a number of applications. Instead of having Outlook, Excel, Word and the rest of Office pinned to the taskbar, create a "stack" using this app and point it to the Office folder in your Start Menu. You'll have everything you need right there.

If you have a DX9 capable card (I think) you'll be able to use the full screen magnification software. No need for insanely expensive software to do this. Sure it may lack some of the AntiAliasing effects found in ZoomText, but it's included in the cost of your OS and not an additional purchase for $150 or more!!

Yes, you are seeing ads on your favorite spot on the web. WhoDah? does a lot for us and for whatever reason, it took years to come around and add them to the site for him. He covered the domain name registration and provides us with a "free" host.

So... I'll be working with WhoDah to integrate some of his ads in to clankeen to help him out.

*EDIT*
I've added the code for AdSense to the header and footer of the boards. It might add a little extra time to the page load, it does when I'm at work due to our filtering.

If we do anything else, page load times will be taken in to consideration.

Sorry about that, I was trying to get the boards updated with the new IPB 3.0. I failed to see that our setup is missing a prereq and we had to get a restore done in the end.

On another note, ever use Messenger Plus Live? They have some contest going where you click a pixel in an image to win prizes (click wisely though). Lots of customization features, I haven't used this in years... playing with it now.

Wolfenstein: Another remake? This one hits the first week of August.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2: I held off on buying CoD4 because CoD3 skipped the PC, well Harley from Rx slapped some sense in to me and got me to pick it up. CoD4 rocked, CoD5 was plagued with issues (it gets better with patches), and I can't wait for CoD4: MW2 now.

Windows 7: If you know me, then you know I'm a tech junkie. Win7 comes out in late October and I can't wait. Vista has been rock solid on my rig and my wifes, so Win7 will only perform better.

Left 4 Dead 2: Too soon? Too bad, it hits in November of this year.
