Looking for recommendations (redux)

Hey folks, it's been a long time (2 years?)

Once again, my son is looking into building his own rig. He's been on Newegg 24/7 over the past 2 months figuring out what he wants to get. He's got a bunch of components picked out and appears to have cobbled together a fairly decent rig for about $700.

My question is: how can I make sure the components he's picked out will be compatible?

I can post the parts list if anyone can lend a hand.

Hey peeps !

I quit wow a few yrs ago was burned out from the grind and too addicted, it was just time. I still talk with Maul. Another of my co-worker friends showed me his wow character so of course I tried to drag up my old armory page to show him kryptogram. Then I discover I'm in battle.net and kryptogram is on a different server but inactive since 2009 ?

I think I quit Nov 2008, before wotlk and before battle.net merger. To sum up I discovered In May 2009 my wow account was hacked, the account was moved to a battle.net account. I don't know yet if my toons were robbed, but I'll bet they were. I created a battle.net account and opened a ticket with them just out of principle, and out of curiosity to see what they can actually recover. They discovered foul play re my account. So far they've moved kryptogram back to hellscream not sure if has all gear items and gold or if he'll be naked on stormwind and beggin for copper lol. I can't find my 2 main bank alts on any server.
So we'll see what happens out of that.

Even if you do not intend to play again..... if any of you quit playing in 2008 and 2009 before wotlk and battle.net - Pls create a battle.net account, then merge your old wow account to it, for security's sake. If anything hopefully it will prevent a hacker from accessing your account and stealing the stuff you grinded for hours for. The harder we make it for hackers and cheaters the better things will be for everyone.

I doubt I'd ever play again, don't want to get addicted again, and too far behind. I may have to get a 7 day pass or something tho after this account recovery is complete to check for my alts, items etc in game. Don't know if I can do that w/out wotlk and cata xpacs. Remains to be seen !

How is everyone and what pc games are you playing these days ?

I'm playing CODMW pc version, bored since no friends playing and because it's the only game I play - need some new variety.
I have black ops pc version as well but can't seem to get into the multiplayer.

Unfortunately I don't have a ps3. Not in the budget anytime in the near future.

I have xfire (different handle I think then the one listed in my profile) and steam. - I'll update my xfire shortly.

Any cool pc games you're playing that aren't hardcore mmorpgs ?
I like shooters, dungeon type stuff and arcade. Not elite at any but its good fun.

I found out about a free beta MMORPG - look up Forsaken World. Seems very wow-like. There's also a Vampire Class.
Seems cool, I won't play as I foresee wow addiction and timesink all over again. But maybe some of you would enjoy it.
I almost installed it to be a vampire then stopped myself lol.

Anyhow, cheers. the wow division of keeN was always home for me. Some fun gaming still miss it.
I'll be popping an interesting update over there, recently found out my wow account was hacked a few months after I quit lol.

I made a small change so that the portal isn't hidden if you aren't logged in, you can at least see the menu's and blocks on the left.

I'm going to grab my son a "very" low-cost gaming rig. It doesn't have to be fancy at all and I need to keep the cost as low as possible. Hoping to top out at around $500.

Yes, that is not a lot of money and I've already put the smack down on his ambitions of the uber-rig-from-hell.

We've been wandering around on Newegg and have found a few that seem reasonable and in line with our expectations.

What I need to know is what graphics cards to definitely avoid, gotchas, pitfalls, etc.

Any tips are greatly appreciated.

CoD Modern Warfare 2

Sith and I have been playing CoD online the last few nights and having a hell of a lot of fun I might add.

I know, I'm the same guy who pasted hate on the front page about it. I still miss dedicated servers, but the game does kick ass and Multiplayer is very playable and uber addicting.
