Once again, my son is looking into building his own rig. He's been on Newegg 24/7 over the past 2 months figuring out what he wants to get. He's got a bunch of components picked out and appears to have cobbled together a fairly decent rig for about $700.

My question is: how can I make sure the components he's picked out will be compatible?

I can post the parts list if anyone can lend a hand.

Yes, that is not a lot of money and I've already put the smack down on his ambitions of the uber-rig-from-hell.

We've been wandering around on Newegg and have found a few that seem reasonable and in line with our expectations.

What I need to know is what graphics cards to definitely avoid, gotchas, pitfalls, etc.

Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Most propably don't remember me, but for some time I used to play GW with kN guys. What's new.. well, I've become badly addicted to Warhammer Online, playing a cool engineer in european Eltharion server.. Several HC pvp people from WAR went to test Aion (NCSoft) in China closed beta and there was no stopping of all the praise. I was wondering if you guys are gonna give it a shot, or just sit out till GW2. Or is there something else cooking up ?

If you haven't played with Windows 7 at all, you really should try it if you have the free time. It's pretty amazing what they have done with it. It's like Vista, but runs a hell of a lot leaner!
